Scotforth, Lancaster
Clergy

Once a separate village, Scotforth is now a suburb of the vibrant university city of Lancaster, situated on the river Lune, and with easy access to the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Trough of Bowland.

  • The population is just over 13,000
  • Electoral roll is 279
  • Churchmanship is Central, inconsistent with the absence of a central aisle!
  • Congregations at St Paul’s and the community worship centre at Hala
  • Good team of readers, retired clergy and wardens
  • Financially stable, though raising funds for roof repairs
  • Vicarage next to the Church

We aim to grow our congregations in line with the Diocesan Vision 2026:

  • by making a welcoming church an inviting church
  • by developing innovative forms of worship alongside the existing pattern
  • by deepening our teaching and understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ
  • by making more of the current outreach opportunities
  • by promoting ministry and mission to young people, through schools and uniformed organisations

What the parish is praying for:

  • An enthusiastic and approachable spiritual leader
  • A strong team player, who encourages new leaders
  • An advocate of making the Gospel known to all through teaching and welcome, of good ecumenical relationships and of real engagement with the wider community
  • A person with a sense of God’s call to love the people
