We'd love to appoint a prayerful priest with a passion for the Gospel, good liturgy and a real heart for pastoral care to our friendly village on the south of the Isle of Wight. A lovely house with stunning views accompanies this House for Duty post in our village close to Ventnor with its microclimate, Botanic Gardens, thriving art scene and lovely beaches. There are good ferry links to Portsmouth from Ryde with rail connections to London and further afield; to Southampton from Cowes and to Lymington from Yarmouth. Wroxall has a high proportion of retired people, a community primary school, pub, local shop with post office and strong links with the Methodists.
The Bishop of Portsmouth is looking to appoint a priest in charge of St John's, Wroxall.
Our church has a ministry team, music and a choir and we currently use Common Worship as the basis for our Eucharist. The church hall is next to the church in the centre of the village and is well used by many groups, for social events and birthday parties.
Wroxall is situated on the south side of the island and is a very friendly village, with a good community spirit. It lies in the valley between Stenbury and St Martin’s Downs, which are areas of outstanding natural beauty. The village is surrounded by open countryside and farmland, which attracts many walkers and cyclists. The IOW Donkey Sanctuary is in the village and this is a popular with both tourists and locals. Regular bus services keep Wroxall linked to the rest of the Island and to the ferries. Wroxall is very fortunate to have its own minibus which is used by the young and old of the community, as well as supporting St John’s Church.
To explore with us as many are open to new ways of worship.
To lead us as a church which very much believes in prayer to develop our individual spirituality, helping us to study the Bible and encourage us to be actively involved in prayer for our community, for our church and for each other.
To make prayer the engine room of the church.
To help us be a church ever-ready to move on and go deeper into our relationships, firstly with God, then with each other.
To serve the village and share Gods love with all those who live and work in Wroxall.

We are looking for someone :
Our diocese is made up of 11,000 or so worshippers in 139 Church of England parishes across south-east Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It is led by our Bishop and includes clergy, Readers, retired clergy, chaplains, paid staff and thousands of volunteers who work in our parishes.
Our diocese is also divided into seven deaneries, each of which co-ordinates the mission and ministry of parishes in their area.
Further information about the diocese can be found at : www.portsmouth.anglican.org
We have a framework to envision our diocese in the future - and it can be summed up in just three words: live; pray;serve.
live | pray | serve will be our guide for the future, as we seek to equip people to live as disciples of Christ; to pray, individually and together as worshipping communities and to serve our local neighbourhoods and society together.
To achieve this we will encourage and support our parishes, chaplaincies and church schools as they aim to:
grow our churches;
