Based in and around the ‘Cathedral of the Wolds’, this is an opportunity to grow a new vision for ministry and mission in and around the market town of Pocklington in rural East Yorkshire. Pocklington is a vibrant fast-growing market town on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, a hub for the local rural communities, and an increasingly desirable base for commuting into York, Beverley and Hull.
The Pocklington Group currently comprises the nine parishes of the Benefices of Pocklington Wold and Londesborough Wold. Pastoral reorganisation is currently well underway which aims to reduce the group by 2 parishes and to create a single benefice which, it is anticipated, will be ministered to by the appointee, supported by a House for Duty minister to be appointed by the new Incumbent.
This is a great opportunity for someone with vision and a heart for rural ministry to shape a ministry team which will look to grow each of the church communities, finding new ways to share gifts, skills and energy between the churches whilst still maintaining the distinctiveness of each church within their own communities.

Unfortunately it is not always straightforward for clergy from overseas to be appointed to posts in the Church of England. The policy of the UK Border Agency is that normally the organisation making an appointment has been able to prove that it is impossible to appoint a person who is a national of a European Economic Area country, before a visa giving permission to work will be issued to a person who comes from elsewhere.
This appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS Check.
Closing date for applications: 29th March 2020
