St Peter, Streatham - Priest-in-Charge

We are a welcoming congregation seeking a Priest who will appreciate that warmth and have a love of the best of our traditions, but who will also be able to take a fresh look at how we might develop our mission beyond the church walls; who can inspire us to explore our faith and develop our spiritual lives; who is skilled at identifying and encouraging talents not presently discovered; who has good pastoral and listening skills; who will help us draw others to St Peter’s; who is a good communicator, able to teach and inspire us to recognise the love of God in our lives.

The right of presentation is currently restricted. This is because there is an immense mission opportunity to work with the neighbouring parishes. See the archdeacon's letter for more information.

OUR HOPES FOR OUR NEW VICAR

  • A person of vision to engage with our very diverse congregation
  • An inspired preacher
  • A focus on helping the congregation to grow - in number and in depth of faith
  • A priest who loves liturgy and music
  • Someone who would lead us outwards to develop new relationships in our local community

St Peter's is a lively and flourishing parish church committed to an Anglo-Catholic style of worship with a lively and active congregation representing all ages and many ethnic backgrounds. The parish spans parts of Streatham and West Norwood (map on p.7), and includes some 5,000 homes and 16,000 people.
At our congregational meeting in October to discuss our parish profile we invited congregation members to express what they love about St Peter’s, their aspirations for the future of the church and their hopes for a new priest to lead us.
