Eynsford with Farningham and Lullingstone
Clergy

Could you be called to be the next Rector of Eynsford, with Farningham and Lullingstone, to work with us in discerning and following God's call to worship and serve Him?

The Benefice comprises three parishes: the two historic and picturesque villages of Eynsford and Farningham, and the settlement of Lullingstone based on the former estate of Lullingstone Castle. It is in Shoreham Deanery in the Diocese of Rochester. The Dean and Chapter of Rochester Cathedral are the Patron of all three parishes.

The Benefice is located in the Darenth Valley in west Kent within the area officially designated as the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Benefice lies mid-way between the towns of Dartford and Sevenoaks, and just outside the M25. There is easy access to all the major towns of Kent and to London via road and rail, and to continental centres via Eurostar at Ebbsfleet.

The river Darent runs through all three parishes. There are many opportunities for recreation, including walking, cycling and golf in the surrounding area.

Our Churches

Our three churches seek to be:

  • Welcoming churches: where all God’s children can find a home
  • Churches of praise and worship: where we honour and bring glory to God
  • The Body of Christ: where individual and corporate prayer is a priority
  • Churches of preaching and teaching: where God’s Word brings us to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Churches of compassion, concern and care: where we seek to minister to, and care for, the needs of those in our churches and communities
  • Witnessing churches: where our life and actions reflect the new life we have found in Jesus

We are praying for a Rector to lead us in fulfilling our Vision for Mission and Growth:

  • To build up Sunday services as the focus of our common life together
  • To grow church members as disciples through home groups and age appropriate groups for 0-18s.
  • To grow more leaders
  • To make the most of occasional offices as a means of connecting people with Jesus.
  • To do better at evangelism, so more people come to faith

We are praying for a Rector who:

  • Demonstrates depth and breadth of theological understanding and reflects this in their lifestyle, teaching and example
  • Is a spiritual leader of strong personal faith with prayer at the centre of their life who values, lives by and teaches the Scriptures as the Word of God
  • Will respect and value the different traditions and outlook of each of the churches and support them in their mission to their community, whilst building on the shared activities across the Benefice
  • Is open to the working and power of the Holy Spirit
  • A team builder who is hardworking and energetic
  • Is caring, empathetic, and able to develop ministry with both young and old within the church and the wider community
  • A good listener
  • Willing to work in partnership with other denominations
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead the churches’ vision with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm
  • Preaches the good news of God’s kingdom in a way that encourages the development of mature faith and is adaptable towards the different styles of worship within our Benefice
  • An ‘ideas’ person who will look for ways to grow our churches spiritually and numerically
  • Inspires the congregations to work for unity and to strengthen our relationship with God and one another
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with experience of managing a team well, valuing and encouraging the Ministry Team and other volunteers
  • Demonstrates the ability to initiate and manage change and encourage these abilities in others
  • Has good organisational skills with an understanding of the necessity of balanced and healthy work-life for self and others
  • Has understanding of what is involved in living and working in a rural community
