Vicar of Grangetown

This job has now expired
St Paul’s Church in Wales, Paget Street, Grangetown, Cardiff
Clergy

We seek a parish priest with experience and energy, to lead this richly diverse parish, at the heart of the city of Cardiff. If you relish the challenges of ministry in the fast-changing multi-cultural environment of Wales’s dynamic and expanding capital city, then this is the place where you will thrive.

You will most likely be someone who:

  • understands and relishes the challenges of ministry in a complex multicultural city
  • is a confident, inclusive and approachable leader, with proven pastoral experience
  • has a heart for ministry with children and families, and can relate effectively to them
  • can shape with others a vision for future change, and sustain them in delivering it
  • can engage with people from different backgrounds, and communicate effectively
  • is well resourced spiritually, and is able to encourage and resource others

Grangetown is one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse areas of Cardiff, stretching from the city centre down into Cardiff Bay. It is facing rapid changes among the resident population, as some (but not all) areas, which were formerly among the most socially deprived in the city, are now being gentrified. The new Vicar will have both the joy and the challenge of steering an innovative course for the two churches in this dynamic environment, while also working through the significant changes and development to church buildings, which are already in progress after many years of planning.
