Crossing cultures, planting churches
We are looking for pioneering leaders with a passion for planting and growing a culturally and ethnically diverse church and the ability to share our vision and draw people to two new Intercultural Worshipping Communities (IWC). IWCs are missional church communities where people from different cultural and ethnic heritage deliberately interact with one another in order to deepen their understanding and experience of God and of each other.
Two pioneers will plant a new Intercultural Worshipping Community in Leicester city centre and one will work with St Paul's, Oadby.
The Intercultural Worshipping Communities (IWCs) are a model for the renewal of Anglican Church life across the Diocese of Leicester. They are missional church communities where people from different cultural and ethnic heritage deliberately interact with one another in order to deepen their understanding and experience of God and of each other. They learn and grow
together to build communities which are transformed, shaped, and moulded from each other’s experiences.
The roles are about pioneering to plant churches which are recognizably Intercultural Worshipping Communities. In the first year this will involve scoping, building links, listening to people in the local context, identifying local leaders and discerning a way forward so that new forms of church begin to emerge in the second year and beyond.
We encourage applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) candidates, who are currently under-represented in the organization.
