The Islington Associate for Estates is piloting the Estates Course to train local leaders through an 18-month process to become a Commissioned Estate Leader within the London Diocese. Starting from January 2020, they will gather on the second Saturday of each month at St Barnabas Finchley for a morning to learn and grow together. There will also be termly gatherings in a wider setting to inspire and broaden their vision of what God can do.

This is a 7 hour per week role for a fixed-term until 30th September 2020, to administer and coordinate the Estates Course as part of the work of CCX in the Diocese of London and provide administrative support as appropriate for the Islington Associate for Estates. The course will be available to serve people and parishes of any tradition within the Church of England.

This is a new venture and with an annual review. After review, it may be that the course is not run in subsequent years.

  • Assist with the recruitment of participants to the course, including the preparation and placement of adverts, web-pages, receipt of applications, organising interviews, etc.
  • Consult with students to provide information, registration and support services through the course.
  • Liaise with venue provider(s) and administer arrangements to ensure that rooms are secured and made available at the right time, and to assist in resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Keep records of income and expenditure for the course.
  • Administer applications and other arrangements with CCX and other educational establishments.
  • Assist in making funding applications as necessary.
  • Other responsibilities as the Islington Associate for Estates may require.

The roleholder will report to the Head of Development for Church Planting based at CCX and relate directly with the Islington Associate for Estates, on a day-to-day basis. The postholder may be required to undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the role.

  • A good networker capable of building good relationships with individuals and institutions.
  • Good self-starter, well-motivated and with the energy to help develop the course.
  • The ability to see how the course fits into the wider strategic vision for estates within the diocese.
  • Committed to working collaboratively and will have a positive attitude to the ecclesiastical structures within which the programme must operate.
  • A good communicator.
  • Proven administrative experience.
  • Organised, methodical capable of implementing system and process.
  • A good eye for detail.
  • Experience of working in a pioneering/entrepreneurial environment.
  • Computer and IT skills.
