An exciting opportunity to join the Property Services Team and the Diocesan Board of Education as a Surveyor. This role will be focused on providing a surveying, property management and architectural service to church schools and academies. Some degree of flexible working may be required on other properties in the diocese portfolio

In conjunction with the Director of Property you will offer and undertake a range of surveying, property management and architectural fee-earning services to schools and Academies.

You will also be assisting in the management and coordination of the administrative, organisational, professional and technical services necessary to meet the legal and pastoral obligations of the diocese in its management of VA and VC schools, Academies and other schools/ MATs that request assistance from Property Services.

You will be expected to build up and communicate a thorough knowledge of all legislation and guidelines affecting church schools, with particular attention to the whole area of grant funding.

Once appointed you will also manage the Diocese Mobile Phone contract in connection with the Director of Finance.

The main responsibilities and duties for this Surveyor role are to include:

  • Undertake detailed building inspections, prepare design information and specifications, obtain tenders and administer contracts to completion at church academies and VA schools.
  • Advise the Diocese Board of Education (DBE) in connection with matters of policy and procedure as they affect church school buildings.
  • Keep under review all relevant legislative developments which impact on diocesan properties and make recommendations to ensure compliance with such regulations.
  • Ensure CDM Regulations and all other Health and Safety Regulations and DfE requirements are complied with on capital projects as relevant.
  • Oversee the terms and conditions of engagement of professional consultants on projects and closely monitor consultants’ performance.
  • Liaise with Planning Authorities, Building Control, external consultants, agents, solicitors, etc. regarding school property matters as individual projects require.
  • Develop and manage the Revit Models for VA Schools where extensive work planned.
  • Monitor and control project costs against contracts and funding availability.
  • Maintenance of filing system and ensure information management systems and policies are adhered to, including Social Media, GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
