Christian Distinctiveness Adviser

Part time – 14 hours (2 days)

Salary range: £14,556- £16,698 (FTE £36,391 to £41,747)

The Rochester Diocesan Board of Education is looking for a qualified primary teacher with experience in leading religious education as a curriculum area and planning and delivering high quality collective worship. Candidates should have experience teaching in a Church of England School.

The post holder will develop and write creative and relevant materials for religious education and collective worship which reflect our Christian distinctiveness in line with local and national guidance and plan and deliver effective training for religious education and collective worship leaders in schools.

A key part of this role will be to engage with key stakeholders to successfully implement religious education materials, and keep schools up to date with national developments, initiatives and requirements in the broader field of religious education. The post holder will provide ongoing support, including making regular visits to leaders within Rochester church schools

The successful applicant should be an excellent communicator, experienced in engaging with key stakeholders. The post holder will work as part of a small team but will work mostly independently so must be self-motivated with excellent time management skills.

The purpose of this exciting new role is to develop the Christian distinctiveness and Christian ethos in our 89 church schools within the Diocese.

The post holder will have a good understanding of the beliefs, traditions and practices of the Church of England and how they are lived out in the context of a Church of England school, preferably a communicant member of the Church of England, or of a Church in communion therewith or of a member Church of the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland or of Churches Together in England, or of a member Church of the Evangelical Alliance.

Candidates must be able to travel to Church schools within the Diocese. The successful applicant will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
