Carbis Bay and Lelant, Cornwall

This post as Priest in Charge of the United Benefice of Carbis Bay and Lelant offers a wonderful opportunity to lead two congregations which are committed to working towards growth and discipleship using their distinct skills and styles.

This is an exciting opportunity to take forward the Benefice vision for discipleship and mission. Work has been happening to undertake a journey of growth together but this is not yet complete and support does need to continue in this area.

We are looking for an experienced Priest in Charge who loves God, loves people, loves our place and who

  • is grounded in their own personal relationship with God through Christ, preaches and teaches from the authority of scripture, and wishes to make the Word of God accessible and relevant to all;
  • can get alongside people in their everyday lives, both in our churches and in our wider community, leading us in communicating the love of God in Carbis Bay and Lelant and drawing people into the Kingdom;
  • has a heart for children and young people and will work in harmony with our affiliated local school, its staff and its Christian Ethos Committee;
  • is able to lead well our ministry team, musicians and prayer leaders, and thereby facilitate the teaching, training and equipping of all God's people in their ministries and giftings throughout the benefice;
  • is ecumenical in outlook, and has a heart for the wider church locally, nationally and internationally that is shown by prayer, fellowship and practical giving, and inspires the same in our congregations;
  • knows that this is the place to which God is calling them, and can respond to the challenge of pastoring these two united but distinct congregations.
