The Office Services department is responsible for supporting all departments within the National Church Institutions (NCIs) of the Church of England with logistics, printing, hospitality and reception.

We are developing the way we deliver our services and full training will be given to the successful candidate who will help us to deliver an excellent standard of service.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Office Services team at a time of growth and development.

You will focus on improving our support for services including porterage, logistical support, printing, hospitality and telephone services.

You will need to enjoy working as part of a team, be comfortable with using IT and be looking for the chance to develop your skills. Once confident, you will have the chance to choose an area of work that particularly interests you and undertake more in depth learning in that area.

To be successful, you will need a full driving licence, a calm, professional and highly motivated approach and the desire to deliver an excellent standard of service.

The Role :

  • Porterage and logistical support

    • Transporting documents and other materials from the main archive library to and from Church House and Lambeth Palace
    • Assisting with relocating goods and materials around Church House
    • Re-locating work stations and equipment throughout Church House
    • Moving and storing confidential waste
    • Carrying out minor maintenance work, for example hanging pictures, clocks or repairing/replacing window blinds.
    • Carrying out safety walks, checking for free access and clear walk ways.
  • Print room services
    • Assisting in preparing documents
    • Running bulk photo copy runs and print runs
    • Packing and distributing printing
    • Collecting, installing and distributing toner cartridges
  • Hospitality services
    • Preparing coffee, tea and other refreshments (this may include alcoholic beverages)
    • Serving refreshments including cold and hot foods.
    • Preparing meeting rooms
    • Assisting with Audio Visual equipment
    • Clearing and tidying meeting rooms between meetings
    • Managing and handling spillages
    • Assisting with meet and greet
  • Telephonist
    • Covering the reception telephone and reception
    • Answering incoming calls screening them for best direction

The requirements for the role

Essential

Skills/Aptitudes:

  • The ability to represent the service in a professional manner
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to serve refreshments (including alcoholic beverages)
  • Capable of manual handling
  • The ability to work under a level of pressure
  • Customer care skills
  • Full UK drivers licence held for at least 8 years

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience of providing general support services, within at least one of the functional areas
  • Awareness of Health and Safety in the workplace

Personal Attributes:

  • Adaptable to the changing work environment
  • Sensitive to a range of cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills

Education:

  • Basic numerously and literacy skills

Circumstances:

  • The post holder must wear a uniform during working hours, that will be provided by the employer
