This is a new and high profile opportunity for a Deputy Director of Organisational Development to take responsibility for the leadership, development, implementation and delivery of the National Church Institutions’ belonging and inclusion cultural strategy.

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled HR Professional who will provide strategic leadership throughout the organisation, championing inclusion, equality and belonging and embedding an inclusive workplace.

To be successful, you will need a track record of delivering complex organisational design and transformational change programmes, combined with a depth and breadth of HR experience and achievement and an unwavering commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The Role :

  • Lead, develop, promote, enable and support the delivery of a robust culture of inclusion across the National Church Institutions (NCIs), revisiting the current values and developing relevant plans to support these strategic aims.
  • Identify and implement a successful leadership development programme including appropriate 360 feedback tools and effective coaching offer.
  • Provision of expertise in strategy development and delivery, planning and facilitation of significant change programmes, offering advice and insight to senior leaders on appropriate communication and engagement methods.
  • Development of a pan NCI capability and skills development strategy including production of an L&D strategy, oversight of delivery and return on investment both in house and external including e-learning tools.
  • Work with the HR Manager to develop the career pathways offer, apprenticeships and management framework.
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement through undertaking internal diagnosis, process/system reviews in order to understand barriers and possible solutions, maintaining awareness of external good practise and new ideas.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the NCI wellbeing strategy.
  • Deputising for the People Director in acting as a partner to the Chief Officers and building relationships with trustees.
  • Liaison with other NCI departments responsible for people within the Church e.g. senior clergy appointments, Ministry Division etc.
  • Represent a culture of professionalism, service and support that embodies the change in how HR should operate in a modern organisation and the NCIs values and behaviours
  • Lead and contribute to other projects and working groups as necessary.

The Requirements :

Essential

Skills/Aptitudes:

  • Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with people at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Extensive coaching and mentoring skills at a senior level.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Business planning skills in relation to the vision, values and business goals of the organisation and able to convert these into proposals, departmental and individual objectives.
  • Ability and evidence of delivering impactful, practical, cultural or organisational development initiatives, working closely with internal communications, external organisation design development support, project management methodology experts etc.
  • Extensive experience working with senior leaders in a similarly complex, intellectual and values driven organisation with the ability to command respect from senior leaders and rapidly build their trust.
  • Able to work successfully within a senior HR team.
  • Reasonable IT literacy.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience of managing a varied and complex workload in a multi skilled environment.
  • Experience of managing and monitoring a budget.
  • Significant experience of at least one or more of Diversity and Inclusion, Learning and OD, wellbeing and adequate experience of the others.
  • Ability to work cross functionally to deliver time limited projects.
  • Ability to deal with changing priorities and situations.
  • Evidence of using data analysis, reporting and presenting data to assess the impact of inclusion and belonging policies on working practises.
  • Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion within a diverse society.
  • Substantial experience in belonging and inclusion strategy development
  • Ability to be creative and analytical to develop flexible creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Experience of managing HR colleagues, both directly and via matrix management arrangements, with the ability to work through HR business partners and communications experts as well as directly with customers and stakeholders.

Professional Qualification:

  • Member of the CIPD to F/MCIPD level.
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
