Designated as a resourcing church, in the next 5 years it will become an active and vibrant Anglican church, situated in the centre of Dudley with an average attendance of 250 - being a blessing to the local community and a resource to other churches.
We are looking for someone who has a passion to see the church caring for the most vulnerable in society to join our team. Your vision will be for the people of Dudley, one of the most deprived parishes in the UK, to experience life in all its fullness as Jesus promises. To that end, could you:

The role of Community Minister is integral to the fulfillment of Top Church’s mission, vision, values and specifically to our fourth objective. To that end you will work closely with Revd James Treasure and the team to enable Top Church to fulfill this objective and to live out our vision, mission and values. It is therefore expected that you will be a member of, or join, Top Church.
Approximately 1 day a week of this role will also be key to achieving Objective 8 through work related to the HLF project. This will involve developing and testing an ‘Activity Plan’, alongside colleagues and consultants, which will seek to engage the community in the conservation work to the building.
You will be a highly motivated leader, passionate about Top Church’s engagement with its local community with an aim to bring dignity and hope to the most vulnerable of Dudley. This is not a job for the faint hearted but for someone who is willing to work hard, get their hands dirty, your heart broken and take a clear and strategic lead in bringing hope and dignity to the people and place of Dudley. We know this type of job brings with its unique pressures; you will be part of a very supportive team working towards the same vision and have regular oversight from the resourcing church Leader.
The overall task of the job will be to discern where God is leading us as a church to bring hope and dignity to the people and place of Dudley. Our hunch is that there is something that God is calling Top Church to do in our community, a unique space and role for us to serve the people of Dudley. After you have discerned this, you will take a lead role in delivering it. We anticipate this will be a ‘grassroots’ pilot initially but our hope is that in time, it will ‘scale up’ to provide the maximum opportunity to bring hope and dignity to as many as possible.

Qualifications, training and professional development
A minimum of 2 A-Levels
A DipHE or higher in theology (or equivalent).

A Resourcing Church
Top Church will launch in September 2019. In preparation for the launch will see the appointment of a number of staff and clergy and a church planting team will be gathered and inducted.
Top Church has been designated a resourcing church. Revd James Treasure is working closely with the Bishop(s) to intentionally resource mission across the area by first planting Top Church and then planting other churches through the continued development of leaders and the provision of other resources for mission. As a resourcing church, Top Church will be given additional, focused resources.
The investment in the Top Church project is a strategic one to fulfil the priorities of our Kingdom People vision in Dudley. Top Church will provide a highly visible, outward facing church that blesses the town by offering the opportunity to reconcile people with God.
Work will be underway to adapt the church to best deliver this mission and ensure that the building is fit for purpose to serve the resourcing church and wider community for years to come. This work involves the first phase of internal re-ordering, to be completed by September 2019, and conservation work to the building via a Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) project.

Context of Dudley
This resourcing church will have a major impact in an area of high deprivation. It will show the Church of England’s commitment to the poorest communities where there is often a small faithful witness but little impact or engagement with large numbers of the local community, including young adults and those in inner urban estates. Since obesity, low self-esteem and loneliness/isolation have already been identified as the greatest needs in the area Top Church anticipates these might form the core of the challenges to be addressed. This will include partnering with other agencies who are working with the most vulnerable, for example the DY1 project and CHADD. The aim is to have this work in place by September 2020 after a year of discernment and planning.
